The next thing you need to do is build a trial site assessment hole. This hole needs to be dug in order to determine the maximum height for the winter water table. You won’t be allowed a septic tank system if the water table ever gets within 2.1 metres of ground level. Last but not least, a percolation test is a must. This test will determine if the ground can efficiently absorb the liquid and eradicate the pollutants. System failure is a real probability if the ground cannot accept liquids properly, as the soakaway will end up blocked very quickly. This is why clay ground is not suitable for a septic tank.
